What is Dave?

Dave is the agentic AI built into eveXso — an assistant that carries out warehouse work rather than describing it. Dave reads live data from your site, investigates problems across the platform's own API actions, and performs operations such as holding an order or reprioritising a wave. It always acts under the permissions of the person asking, and asks for approval before it changes anything.

How is Dave different from a chatbot?

A chatbot answers questions from documentation; Dave acts on your live system. The difference shows up the moment you ask for something to be changed. A chatbot returns instructions for you to go and follow. Dave proposes the exact action, waits for you to approve it, carries it out, and records what it did.

What does agentic AI mean in a warehouse?

Agentic AI means software that decides which steps to take and then carries them out, rather than returning text for a person to act on. In a warehouse that is the difference between being told which orders are running late and having those orders actually reprioritised. How does Dave know how eveXso works?

Dave has the eveXso source code, database schema and technical documentation indexed and searchable. That is why it can explain why something happened rather than only what happened — it can trace a failure from a log entry back to the code that produced it. The index also covers the ERP and carrier integrations eveXso maintains, including Acumatica, Business Central, MYOB EXO, Pronto, MachShip, Palletways and Vigo.

Can Dave change data in my system?

Yes — Dave can change data, and every change goes through an approval step first. Dave works through the same API actions the eveXso web and mobile apps use, so it cannot do anything a user could not do by hand. Read-only lookups run straight away. Anything that writes, updates or triggers a process stops and asks you first.

Who approves what Dave does?

The person in the conversation approves it, before it runs. When Dave needs to make a change it stops and shows exactly what it intends to do — the action, and the data it will send. Nothing executes until you press Approve. Deny it and Dave continues the conversation without making the change.

Is there a record of what Dave did?

Accepted Answer

Every action Dave takes against your system is recorded, whether it succeeded or failed. The record captures what was run, the data sent, which user it ran as, which site it belonged to, how long it took, and the result. The conversation is retained alongside it, so the request, the approval and the outcome can be read back together.

Whose permissions does Dave act under?

Dave acts as the person using it, not as a privileged service account. Every request carries that user's ID, session and site, and eveXso applies exactly the same role and permission checks it would if the user had pressed the button themselves. If someone cannot do something in eveXso, they cannot get Dave to do it on their behalf.

Can Dave see another customer's data?

No. Every request Dave makes is bound to the site of the signed-in user, and that boundary is applied at the data layer rather than in the AI's instructions. It cannot be widened by asking Dave nicely, or by any wording in a prompt. A user sees their own site's data through Dave, exactly as they do everywhere else in eveXso.

Is my data used to train an AI model?

Accepted Answer

No. eveXso does not train or fine-tune any AI model on your warehouse data. Dave runs on commercially hosted foundation models accessed through their business APIs, under terms that exclude customer content from provider model training. Your conversations are stored so that you can return to them and so the audit record stays intact — not as training material.

Where can I use Dave — which apps and devices?

Dave is available inside the eveXso web app and the eveXso mobile app, including on rugged warehouse scanners. There is nothing extra to install and no second login to manage. Dave is not a Slack, Teams or WhatsApp bot, and there is no voice interface — it is a text conversation inside the software your team already uses.

What languages does Dave work in?

Dave's chat interface is in English. The wider eveXso platform — the warehouse, transport and production screens your floor teams work in — ships in 18 languages, so a picker can run a scanner in their own language while supervisors and managers use Dave in English. Broader language support for Dave itself is not available today.

What happens when Dave does not know the answer?

Dave tells you what it checked and where it stopped. Because it works by querying live data and searching indexed code, it can usually show the evidence behind an answer — or show that the evidence is not there. That is deliberate. In a warehouse, a confident wrong answer costs far more than an honest dead end.

What can Dave not do?

Accepted Answer

Dave cannot act outside your permissions, cannot write directly to the database, and cannot make a change without approval. It has no voice interface, does not run in Slack or Teams, and does not email your customers. It will also decline to guess — where the data does not support an answer, Dave says so rather than inventing one.
